A few of the chapters towards the end make moral arguments about the proper treatment of the chimpanzee and philosophical arguments about the ties between chimpanzees and humans. The book contains twenty-one chapters, most of which tell a chronological story whereas, other chapters discuss special features of chimpanzee life and string together various stories to make a single point. But within the pages of In the Shadow of Man, the reader hears Goodall tell her story from her own perspective and from the very beginning. Goodall has been known across the world for decades as the scientist who first studied the chimpanzee in his natural habitat she has won numerous awards and produced a slew of books and documentaries.
